Mt Hood - Sunshine

Trail Description

Driving Route

Driving Directions

The Sunshine route gets its name from having the sun on the snow dome all day. Start early. This is my favorite route on the mountain - far from the crowds, with a nice pitch of steep snow after negotiating the bergschrund at the top of the snow dome. This pitch ends at the Queen's Chair, a small aerie where the Cathedral and Yocum Ridges meet, with an easy jaunt from there to the summit. Add to the fun by descending Cathedral until you can traverse the (relatively) flat zone under the Coe Glacier headwall back to the top of the snow dome.
